Fresh Juices are the Most Difficult to Digest on the Ayurvedic Scale
As per the science of Ayurveda, freshly squeezed juices are top on the list of difficult to digest substances. Here is a list in order of food preparation from the most difficult to easiest to digest. When you are sick, choose foods that are in the form of easiest to digest. At the end of this post, I will give you a few tricks to "modify" your food to make it easier to digest.
Juice - ex. Freshly squeezed juices with no pulp.
Raw foods - ex. Raw foods mashed up as in juice with pulp. Raw foods as it is
Cooked whole food - ex. Sauteed spinich
Cold Infusions - ex. Cold infused tea
Hot Infusions - ex. The clear parts of soup like chicken broth or hot tea
A few ways to make digestion easier:
1. Chew your food thoroughly.
2. Add a few digestive herbs like salt, pepper, corriander, cloves or ginger to your foods.
3. Warm up the food. Choose a warm salad. Flash fry your salad to ease the breaking down of the food.
4. Eat about one handful of food as a portion size.
